Yes! When I was growing up in the 90s and told people I wanted to travel when I got older, it was always met with indifference or even a sort of gentle contempt. In the pre-social media days, traveling was a niche hobby, and attracted roughly the same number of people who read regularly, or play a musical instrument in adulthood. Without social media, it would only appeal to a narrow segment of the population. I wish there was some way to turn back the clock—for the sake of the planet and those of us who really do love travel.

I live in a tourist destination that is starting to get on national lists and it’s not that great for us locals. CNN, Vogue - but our infrastructure can’t support the volume and every 2nd house is a vacation home or Airbnb.
