"I find the whole thing mostly revealing of what tech people seem to think other jobs do all day." I agree! Someone wrote somewhere (I can't remember) that people who evangelize for AI reveal their biases in what they magically got AI to do for them -- people who don't value good writing praise ChatGPT's writing ability, people who don't make art can't believe how "good" midjourney is, etc.
At least until it starts doing my job. There's no way AI could replace me. All these poor slobs with easy jobs, though? look out!
I do think it’s funny, though, that in the profile of Max Tani linked, the sub header quotes him: “This week, among other things, he spotted Bradley Cooper at Wild Cherry and ordered several cornichon martinis at Le Chêne. ‘Half of the time, it’s kind of like, Is this work? Are we just hanging out?’”
As a tech worker, I often look at media people and am like, are any of you ever doing real work? It can’t possibly take a week to write a few hundred words, and going to dinners and parties seems like fun, not work. Maybe we all just like to secretly assume the worst of others, lol.
"Until then, it’s my business and my business alone how and why I always get murderously despondent for the exact same 3 reasons for the rest of my life" like ooooooff Delia when did you start reading MY Moleskine journals >_<
I actually find Joanna Goddard’s vulnerability / openness brave. She knows she is opening herself up to this kind of comment. I don’t think she thinks anyone will sign up to the Substack for a relationship update.

Max Tani sucks. But your newsletter is great :)

It is heartening to hear other people have the same reaction to someone monetizing every major and minor relationship milestone

Excited to check out Sarah Hassan and Alexandra Tilden’s newsletter! What 2026 exhibitions are you looking forward to Delia?
