Why you should Kare about the Kards

Look, I get it. Long ago, I, too, once thought the Kardashians were the epitome of All That Is Wrong With America. In the years that came to pass, though, two things happened: A) a couple of patient and v. devoted friends have indoctrinated me, and B) the Trump thing happened, so really, how bad is our obsession with Kim’s selfies (it’s just a performance art in self expression, guys, I swear!) really, in comparison to misogyny and racism??

If you haven’t been following the Blac Chyna/Kardashian saga, I highly recommend BuzzFeed’s unironic longform treatment on the subject. Not just for the celebrity goss or pop culture refresher, but also for a fucking ultimate case study on how, exactly, the Kardashians manipulated the worlds of PR, mainstream media, social media and celebrity to now essentially have the best image control and maybe even business model on earth, + how newest Kardashian, Blac Chyna (and really, our entire generation) has learned to do the same.

Also, there’s some interesting racial politics thrown in the mix, too — i.e. how come it’s cool that Kim can make a sex tape and be famous, but Blac Chyna as a high end stripper shouldn’t? Just a Klosing Komment.
