where samin leads, we follow
If the drudgery of quarantine cooking is wearing you down and you need something to rekindle the romance of being intimately responsible for your own dang sustenance, I highly suggest the Home Cooking podcast, hosted by podcast master Hrishikesh Hirway and our Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat queen, Samin Nosrat. There are great guests, even better puns, supplementary transcripts + links aplenty on the site, and it’s all just very “let’s discuss the chemistry of beans” and not so much “lol so I discovered turmeric.” A win win!!!

A message from our syndication buddy, Study Hall…
Study Hall’s latest feature is this media-industry memoir-essay from Angely Mercado about getting a job at a fintech trade publication instead of general-interest media. Trade publications are less glamorous than Conde Nast magazines, for example, but they might be more stable — unless you get laid off during a pandemic.
If you want to work in journalism, or are trying to figure it out now, Study Hall is a great way to learn more. We’re a digital community of media workers and we publish a weekly media-industry news Digest and work opportunity newsletter. Our email listserv and Slack chat can answer pretty much any question about media. Join our 3,500+ members and subscribe on Patreon.
