This is the kind of piece that makes you laugh, nod, and then spiral quietly in your chair. Saruman is such a perfect metaphor I’m mad I didn’t think of it first. The worst part is how true it all feels—lukewarm centrism weaponized into a force field of inertia. No real villainy to rally against, just endless committee meetings and “messaging” exercises while the world burns. I don’t know if I agree with everything here, but damn if it didn’t articulate a bone-deep frustration I’ve been carrying for years.
Also, don't get me started on the marches. Full disclosure, I live in the dmv area, these marches do nothing to change policy. This isn't the 1960s and given the last 10 major marches, has anything changed? Everyone who is a real one knows marching is performative.
If you want change, get your self a lobbyist or a benevolent billionaire. Run for office? Who knows?
I was fired up for the women's march on Washington in, what was it, 2003 or something. And then I saw nothing change and the inexorable march of chipping and then ripping away reproductive freedoms continue.
BANGER
But also like, we are so fucked
not wrong, but also not a single solution offered for what to do in a majoritarian voting system where there will only ever be 2 parties
certified yapping

BRAVO!!! Best thing I read in a while! Can we spread it far and wide???

Certified electric. Inject it into my veins.

I say this with a heavy heart but... this take is about as hot as a plate that's been sitting out on a diner counter since the Nader 2000 campaign.
I would vote for you.
