The style guide for not sounding racist
You know how sometimes you say/read/quote something and there’s this tingly, terrifying sensation in your spine that’s like hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I feel like that was maybe kind of racist???? Was it? WAS IT??!!!?
No fear, at least if you’re an NYT journalist, because now you can check the Times’ Manual of Style and Usage for recommendations on ~race-ish~ related terms, like when you can use the word “ethnic” and when you should probs not. IMO all style guides should be getting on this train, because yea, getting your oxford commas all organized is important for good journalism, but so is making sure your writing isn’t blatantly offensive??
