A very cool thing: The Information, one of the few digital publications out there who’ve figured out how to make money off of (ok semi-expensive) subscription-only journalism, is launching The Information Accelerator, to teach you how to do the same. In the vein of Silicon Valley’s bro-ier versions, the program offers ~ news entrepreneurs ~ expertise, distribution and $$ to work on their own journalism startup — and ideally, turn it into a profitable purveyor of quality news, too.
For more reading, I recommend this Re/Code interview with Jessica Lessin, The Information CEO & subscription-based revenue model queen, who’s been 1000% aboard the subscription revenue train that outlets like the NYT and everyone suddenly w/a paywall is trying to get on. 'Cause apparently, advertisers are going hard on the media ghosting game now, and we all need a new plan ASA-fuckin-P.
