the link every nyer should have bookmarked
Lots of buzz around this ingenious story from The City that tracks who got to leave New York City during the pandemic based on change in household waste collected, and justifiably so. While you’re on the site, to the NYers here tired of trying to screenshot Cuomo’s slides quickly enough (+ also anyone interested in solid infographics), I would also make a case for bookmarking The City’s super smart coronavirus tracker in order to save a lot of time and googling during your daily news binge.
It’s basically a one-stop-shop destination with everything from a zip code breakdown of where people have been testing positive, solid “is the curve flattening or not” graphs, and some really good charts on how the hospitals are doing (including the planned temporary ones). It’s become my new go-to link every morning, and it’s an impressive feat of the kind of beautifully granular reporting that only your friendly local news outlets can consistently pull off.
