The Gawk Rises
If you hear a loud whooshing sound today, that’s just the collective exhale of relief from the entire Jezebel staff. Apparently, while Univision & Ziff Davis were duking it out over Gawker Media this week, Jezebel alone was bid on for $10 million separately by LittleThings.com, this cutesy Pinterest-come-alive lifestyle site that hilariously is the antithesis of everything Jezebel stands for as the internet’s resident provocative girl gang.
But anyway: so, Univision eh? Digiday here breaks down what this acquisition means, but tl;dr — Univision is coming for your millennials.
Kind of sad Gawker Senior Week is over though — if you loved the Gawk for that viciously crass yet hypnotically entertaining self awareness, it truly didn’t get better than How To Be A Flake and Still Have Friends, The Internet’s Shrek Obsession, Explained and even Gawker Media’s Biggest Mistakes listicle. Here’s hoping the next era is just as entertaining and bold but with like fewer sex tapes and be less into outing people??
