The ’Feed on that #PultizerHustle
Just as the last few years have transformed many of us from giggling slackers sitting in the back of Econ 101 watching cat videos into #profesh and #successful bill-paying citizens with life goals extending beyond the next bong hit, so has BuzzFeed undergone some serious growing up — and its new & improved journalistic self is not here to fucking play.
Case in point — you saw them pull a questionable ~you saw it here first~ with the Trump-mebbe-getting-blackmailed-by-Russia-mebbe-not documents thing, but also two projects their news team is working on lately are must-clicks: the first, Help Us Map Trump World, which looks like a killer data visualization (and decisive political piece) that they’re opening up to some crowdsourcing right now.
The second: Documenting Hate, a ProPublica project tracking post-election hate crimes. BuzzFeed is listed as a partner (along with the likes of Google, the NYT and Southern Poverty Law Center), which makes it all the more official: The Buzz is taking a place at the big kids table. I forreal recommend following their daily news newsletter, if you haven’t already, so you don’t miss out.
Countdown to their first Pulitzer, anyone?
