Tackling stains but yes also patriarchy
A good, woke mass media ad is hard to come by, but BBDO India just released a new laundry detergent campaign called #ShareTheLoad that deserves major snaps -- watch it here on Adweek. It’s even got homegirl Sheryl Sandberg’s stamp of approval.
Other Asian TV spots I highly recommend primarily for masochistic get-your-heartstrings-ripped-out-purposes: literally anything that Ogilvy Bangkok does (“Unsung Hero” and “My Dad is a Liar,” will DESTROY you) and also BBH London’s “A Ticket to Visit Mum,” which is by a British agency but nicely portrays one of many expat struggz.
Ad geeks will find the storytelling and brand strategies interesting, fellow Asians will enjoy the strange and very fucking rare feeling of being represented in a media,* the kid inside us all will feel the urge to call home, and we can all agree that this genre of emotional, longform advertising is maybe what American society needs but not what we deserve.
* Sorry not sorry
