"Speaking as a white man..." —most of media

Point: J-School is a scam, we guess, if you’re a white dude whose career was jump-started by professional snarking at a website called Gawker.com.

Counterpoint: J-School might be your best way to get a foot in the door, given the dire state of the media industry, the fact that minorities usually have to play by the white men’s rules, and the ability to broaden one’s imagination beyond Columbia University in order to consider the far more accessible range of journalism education that exists. Just a thought.
