Sorry not sorry female achievement narratives get me eMoTiOnAL
What a beautiful day in Hillaryland. You’ve got your BuzzFeed newspaper front page roundup here, an excellent Vox breakdown of how Hillary’s political strategy worked -- and how it’s distinctly feminine (h/t Mallory) -- the requisite NYT/Amy Chozick recap, and plenty more.
My biggest rec, though, is this NYT opinion piece, wherein Hillary is asked who she’d want to tell about this day, if she could pick anyone in history. My tear ducts were actually STRAINING to hold it in as I read it on the subway, because her choice is not only very sweet, but so symbolic about how much we all owe to the generations of women who got us here.
Secondly, you have to check out this animated Google VR story about a girl and her father. It’s 5 minutes but will give you some FEELINGS and also, is an amazing use of 360-video storytelling since you actually have to like pan around in the video to catch all of the story, but it feels natural.
On finally, on the purely internet fodder end of things, a must-watch video of 12-year-old Grace VanderWaal, competing on America’s Got Talent. Guys, I know y’all think once you’ve seen one music competition “shocker” performance, you’ve seen ‘em all. Do not buy into that. Watch this. My jaw hit the floor. Even Simon says we just found our next Taylor Swift, which is prob. the most relevant contribution he’s made since American Idol.
*wipes flood of tears off face w/ a Rosie the Riveter tissue* Okay guys, Deez Links is gonna go get a cold class of water and cry in the bathroom, bc like, isn’t female achievement beautiful???
