some un-sisterhoodliness we need to tackle
You know what is super easy? Blaming the men for ~industry sexism,~ especially if you’re in advertising/the media and shit like this happens basically every other week.
Less easy: taking a hard look at how everyone adds to the problem: including, dare R/GA exec Jess Greenwood pose, powerful, strong, ceiling-pulverizing women themselves. Wait, like, what??? I.e., you’ve ever been the only girl who got to join the boys-only club at recess, you know what weird sense of un-sisterhoodly territorialness we’re talking about here.
Read Greenwood’s analysis of being a “token woman,” and her manifesto for, hopefully, the last of them.
Also be sure to check out this depressing but very real Tumblr she links to: toomanyguysonegirl.tumblr.com/
In follow-up Woman Card news: Hill’s campaign is giving real ones away! (Sort of.)
And in Marketing Panda Sex news: Yep. (“She might have been a real bear!”)
That’s all for now. Have an enlightened weekend!!
