Why we love Spencer’s Ari coverage: it wasn’t until after the Manchester attack in 2017 when highbrow voices began taking her seriously (since, ya know, anything that teen girls care deeply about is automatically qualified as “uncool” until proven worthy), and his piece The Ideology Of An Ariana Grande Concert was the best and most perceptive one in the pack to begin examining Ari’s rising stardom through a cultural lens.
