Reigning absurdities & other problems
The way media outlets charge for our “products” makes almost no sense, or at least, that’s the p. compelling claim put forth in the latest version of the Monday Note, a weekly newsletter/blog on media/tech things viewed from Palo Alto to Paris (follow them on Medium here!).
Read the post here: “The reigning absurdity in the digital news economy” and then get all ~thoughtful thinking emoji~ about the fact that a typical publisher charges advertisers the same to put their ads on anything from listicles to weather reports to like, hard-hitting investigations into how men cannot handle basic birth control side effects (which, heh).
I imagine that whoever solves this problem (the media business model problem, not the complainy men problem, though that would be nice too) will become the next wildly successful media mogul. Good luck! Remember your friends at Deez Links when you ascend the throne.
Other things to check out: The Pussy Project (h/t Amy!), a sort of “Pussies (not that kind) of New York” kind of deal on what real women really think about the election. Wish there was a way you could add your own portrait & quote. Mine would be a frazzled shot of me wearing a snuggie, looking afraid but also kind of excited but definitely afraid. Yours?
