reading "a mélange perfectly suited to the tinkerer’s heterodox taste" just made me FEEL richer tbh

This Washingtonian profile of Jeff Bezos’ DC life has it all — quotable bougie ass language (“a mélange perfectly suited to the tinkerer’s heterodox taste“), an overview of what Bezos’ DC hangouts might mean for the future of WaPo, and most titillatingly, the deets on his new mansion in the very fancy Kalorama + how it might be the new ~salon~ of makers and doers, in the tradition of The Post’s legendary Katharine Graham & also DC elites throughout history.
In an age of faceless & embarrassing parent corporations (Tronc, basically), there’s a kind of anachronistic appeal to snooping around the life of the Big Wealthy Owner of a major publication (related: if you’ve never read about The Atlantic’s former owner, David Bradley, and his hostages story, just know that it’s better than most action movies out there) and knowing what kind of pancakes his kids like and what kind of whiskey cellar he’s installing in his new digs and how hey maybe journalism can sometimes be in good hands?? Maybe??
(Okay also while we’re on this topic, I can’t NOT promote this…)
