"pink design moments" oh lord
The name of the game today is which passage from this NYT piece on A Penthouse Made for Instagram (h/t Abigail!) makes you want to die inside a little more!!! These are our top contenders but @ us yours:
“Vickie Segar, the 35-year-old founder of Village Marketing, came up with the idea for an apartment tailored to social media after noticing that many influencers — especially those living in New York, with its cramped, dim living spaces — were having a hard time getting the shots they needed. “
“she invoked terms like ‘moments,’ ‘feelings,’ ‘scenes’ and ‘vibes.’”
“Another popular prop is the framed poster that says ‘The Future is Female.’”
The women who work with Village Marketing are drawn to the apartment’s “pink design moments.’”
There is also the ‘rah-rah-Instagram-slash-feminist-wall.’”
She added that the books on the shelves — with ‘Crisis Economics’ just below ‘Gone Girl’ — were chosen for their muted colors to make the area ‘not as feminine and peachy as the rest of the space.’”
Liiiike to be clear, providing a (free??) space for freelancers to get their work done is a very cool thing, but there definitely is SOMETHING rather icky about all the blush-pink branded feminism that permeates all of this, don’t ya think?? Or are we just being total haters???
