personal bizness
We liked reading this Lenny Letter essay about the importance of having a room — er, home office — of one’s own, especially when you’re freelancing or just working from home a lot. It’s a good companion piece to this longer, meatier essay The Personal Business of Being Laid Off, from Hazlitt, which explores the whole tricky business of having your media job be such an integral part of your identity. Both are instructive to read whether you’re a veteran freelancer, a budding renegade just starting out, or anyone who understands that this industry is just as much about the business as it is about the personal stuff.
