My fate, your fate, it’s all up to F8!
So, Facebook’s annual F8 conference happened today, which is basically the Zuckerberg pep rally where they announce all the ~new things~ the big FB is gonna do to one-up Gandhi in terms of changing the world. You can read the big announcements here at Techcrunch, if you’re into those slideshow sort of things, but here are three links I also recommend:
“Why Facebook And Mark Zuckerberg Went All In On Live Video,” from BuzzFeed. Idk about you, but so far I have seen a lot of livestreamed desk lunches, so here’s hoping publishers have some better ideas than ur average co-worker.
Facebook's new Messenger bots are the slowest way to use the internet,” from The Verge. Bots are coming for us!!! But probably not any time soon, at this kind of adorably slow rate as exhibited by Messenger’s weather bot, Poncho.
“What happened when I eliminated political dissent from my Facebook feed,” from Vox, of course. Less relevant to actual F8 things, but poses the philosophical question: if someone makes a dissenting opinion happens off your feed and there is no algorithm around to make sure you see it, did it really happen?
Deez Links is considering attending the Bernie rally tonight. Anyone have a Bernie Bro costume I could borrow?
