more sumptuous editorial plz
So our latest obsession is getting New York mag in print and basically bathing in the sumptuous visuals of their (apparently lone staff photographer! h/t Ted for the deets) Bobby Doherty. If you haven’t seen this issue’s spread of bougie kids wearing — and trashing — couture clothes, get thee to the nearest newsstand. It stuns and it hurts.
In the Instagram age where everything is photogenic, it’s crazy to think that magazines used to be one of the foremost ways that ~the masses~ could access truly artistic photography (i.e. LIFE & Look magazine, who pioneered the golden age of photojournalism, but also like, remember your own reaction to flipping through a Vogue for the first time??). It’s why looking through Doherty’s work feels kind of nostalgic while also reminding us how spoiled we are as visual consumers today.
