Medium, the internet vigilante we (maybe?) deserve
At this point, media and tech (especially ze platforms) are so tied to each other that something like The Atlantic’s profile on Ev Williams (founder of Blogger, Twitter and Medium) is always worth opening up at lunch to read. The Forrest Gump comparison used in this is most amazing.
Lots to chew on in this profile, especially the little ~ history of the internet blog ~ lesson, and Williams’ vision for Medium to be kind of like, a gentrified version of the open web?? Idk; I’m personally not sold on the idea that, in the battle of platforms v. publishers, it just takes a new, nicer platform to fix everything.
*pauses wistfully to think about the wild west that the web used to be, logs back onto Facebook anyway*
(Also, can we just discuss how on point DJ Khaled’s Cannes brand presence is rn??? H/t to Yuliya for sending this over).
