links for cuffing season, the Linsane and bamf women journalists
If you can laugh, cry and scream YASSS in one article, that’s time well spent, so I highly recommend my latest obsession: Julie Beck’s “The Unbearable Exhaustion of Dating Apps.” Just warning you, it gets a little dark & existential at some points, but it’s also a fucking delight to read, if nothing more than for some golden quote nuggets like “A pocket full of maybe” and also a quoted source ACTUALLY named Holly Wood (who apparently is being oppressed by her dissertation advisor?? Someone check on her please??)
Other things worth reading: The NYT is really pioneering a “looking at racism towards Asians” beat through a new essay on the implications of “Linsanity,” all of which is incredibly refreshing and (I would venture a guess) the first time many mainstream readers have even considered this aspect of race relations in America.
Also, this Smithsonian Magazine on the OG gonzo women reporters who went undercover is absolutely nuts — but it’s got me psyched on for Good Girls Revolt, that new Amazon series fictionalizing the EEOC complaint filed by women working for Newsweek in the ‘60s. Anyone got a Prime account a girl can borrow??
