Kentucky, examine your shit

Read BuzzFeed News’ story on how the (public) University of Kentucky is suing its (independent, and very badass) student newspaper in an attempt to keep the contents of a FACULTY sexual assault investigation secret.

Goddamn! This would be like a really great time for a good version of Peter Thiel to step in and help out the Kentucky Kernel here. Coming from a student paper that threw flaming typewriters out of our windows at one point, must say I am very impressed by the lack of pitchforks-and-screaming that the Kernel seems to be relying on (and also, their EIC is a young woman, so that’s even more of a plus).

Yer girl soliloquize forever on the importance of student newspapers — especially ones that get no funding / are not sanctioned by the schools they serve – because them universities get into some fucked up shit, ya know what I’m sayin’?
