J-school or a solid screening of"Devil Wears Prada" are prob. pretty interchangeable
If you’re a media professional these days but have never seen “The Devil Wears Prada,” can you really count yourself as part of this industry?? I’m just saying: you’re missing out on like an entire magazine world lexicon (but will also say that the very underrated Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a decent stand-in, considering it deals with ~print magazine going digital~ drama and also stars resident DILF Ben Stiller.)
Anyway, whether you’re able to quote The Cerulean Sweater Monologue or otherwise, you’ve got to read The Ringer’s piece on Anna Wintour from last week, which analyzes how Wintour’s image has changed — or, more accurately, how our society’s perception of ~bossy women~ have changed, plus it puts forth the argument that Wintour could be “seemingly the only person on earth who knows how to run a steady print operation in 2016.”
So, to review:
More on Wintour’s view on the print magazine industry to be found in New York mag’s interview earlier in May, and for one last dose of true girl power, you need to watch this Spice Girls music video remake, endorsed by global girl bosses Emma Watson & Victoria Beckham.
