It’s okay if you, too, secretly call her Ann FriedWOMAN
How anyone wouldn’t have a career crush + straight up crush on journalist/freelancer/podcaster/media woman extraordinaire Ann Friedman is beyond my regular Friday capacity for cognitive function, but whatever the case, you gotta read her latest, “How millennials should deal with baby boomers at work.” It’s a hilarious LA Times op-ed ripe for the forwarding to all the boomers in ur life who have been deserving a bit of clapback lately, yes??
As far as role models in the media go, Friedman is just such a force of nature in this industry -- she’s not only a most excellent feminist writer and essayist, but she also works ~across the platforms~ with her Call Your Girlfriend podcast, which I can personally attest that you’ll enjoy even if you kind of hate podcasts. I also highly recommend her treatise on how women talk and what it means to have a personal brand for additional reading.
Also, Friedman is just, like a super great person?? Which u and I both know can be some rare ass accomplishment sometimes. I support this assessment of her personality with science in the form of a text from my friend Julia, who got to talk to her when she was graduating from Mizzou and says:
“she's a magical lady queen & was baking a clementine cake or something & told me so many encouraging things.”
Now there’s some fucking goals, man.
Deez Links wishes you a happy Easter weekend and/or a happy regular weekend!
