I had this whole silly ordeal this past week where the mailbox in my apartment building fell off the wall, so the mail carrier wouldn’t deliver mail, so I walked 30 min to the nearest post office like a pioneer lady on the range to pick up my correspondence, only to find out there are very certain hours you can do that, and 3pm on a Wednesday was not one of them. Then I walked 30 min home feeling ridiculously steamed because I want my MTV magazines!!!!! But when I got home, the mailbox was fixed and the backlog of mags were piled up on the floor waiting for me. A lesson in content distribution here I suppose…

In today’s newsletter: Interstellar IMAX thoughts, one of my favorite essays of the year from Slate, the “controversy” around NY Mag’s latest exposé (including my genius idea for how to fix it/media forever), and lots of Toks. enjoy! And thanks as ever for supporting Deez.

I had some good Fandango luck last week and snagged a spot at one of the 10th anniversary Interstellar IMAX screenings, for which resale tickets went for over $200 in NY? (In which case, can you imagine being this unlucky ticket-holder??) As expected, the screening was a stunning maximalist aesthetic experience—which is the bar that nearly every film product must clear now I guess—and I enjoyed reading Slate’s revisitation of the movie as the turning point in Christopher Nolan’s career as a post-viewing digestif…

IMO the real miracle of Interstellar is the casting of Mackenzie Foy (of Renesmee fame) as young Jessica Chastain. she’s the real star!
