Humans of Craigslist Platonic Ads
Ever since the insane success of internet content zeitgeist Humans of New York, it is widely known that every 0.00002 seconds, some typical marketer/media person somewhere is trying to pitch their own version of HONY, and every 0.00003 seconds, some client/editor somewhere is suffering acute eyestrain from rolling their eyes in response.
Tbh there is no end to HONYmania in sight — probably because the killer combo of great photos + short, interesting text + an emotional connection activates the same brain receptors as crack cocaine ( / it is called a photo essay???), but I do really like the fresh take that the New Yorker has here: The Faces Behind Craigslist’s “Strictly Platonic” Personal Ads.
Time to ‘fess up: it’s HONY’s world and we’re just living in it.
