easier said than done, NYT
Some cool woman power all over the media rn:
A ton of women’s media are teaming up on a voter registration initiative, which is part of the greater ~women’s media doing serious things~ movement that is most excellent.
The second annual “Femvertising Awards” were given out, which is an excuse to watch some really neat ads that don’t actually feel cranked out by some Don Draper wannabe. (That whole Bud Light campaign this year has been on point, tbh).
Back to women’s media: Refinery29 is really taking on this mantle of being a bit of an industry rebel, and their 67 percent project should have both publishers and advertisers paying attention.
Also, you have to read this NYT piece: “Social media got you down? Be more like Beyoncé,” (as if that’s something anyone is actively trying not to do??) come for the analysis on self expression & identity through social media, stay for the trippy Queen Bey illustrations.
