What we’re keeping tabs on: Vox employees were tweeting at their CEO, Jim Bankoff, all day yesterday as part of the Vox Media Union’s campaign to negotiate a fair contract, and today’s the last day of scheduled bargaining.
Anyone remotely familiar with the pay discrepancies, lack of diversity, and general disorganization of digital media will identify strongly (maybe depressingly so) with those employee Twitter testimonials, so today will be a verrrrry interesting test of whether these image-obsessed media brands (and specifically the people in charge) can be publicly shamed into changing actual business and hiring practices. 👀
