A brief history on ~SponCon~
If you’re on the biz side of the media industry, you probz know quite intimately what native advertising is. And if not, go thank someone who is, real quick, for spending their days schmoozing dollas out of corporations who do not understand the difference between a source and a comma, so that we all have more dollas to go around.
In any case, I came across The Awl’s brief history of native advertising (aka, BuzzFeed did not invent it), written back in 2014, which is an interesting look at how the relationship between advertising & journalism has always been #fraught. Curious about how things have been shaking out in the two years since? This biweekly newsletter (h/t to Dane) highlights all the latest greatest content.
